Tour Johnson Cosmetic Surgery Center
Is cosmetic surgery for me? That question will be answered after your first visit with Dr. Johnson at the Johnson Cosmetic Surgery Center. However, prior to seeing Dr. Johnson you will be asked to complete a "new patient" registration form. Next, you will be provided with written material clearly explaining the cosmetic surgical procedure in which you are interested.
Having studied this material, you will begin a private consultation with Dr. Johnson. He will listen to your concerns, examine you and thoroughly discuss all aspects of your surgery including the surgical technique, anesthesia, recovery time, pre and post-operative care, possible (though infrequent) complications, return to work, costs, method of payment, etc. Arrangements will be made for you to privately review photographs and diagrams or personally interview patients who have recently undergone the surgical procedure you are contemplating. Pre-operative work-up or medical tests may be requested through your personal doctor's records or office.
At this time you will evaluate your consultation with Dr. Johnson and determine whether or not to proceed with surgery. Many patients like to "think over" their decision and seek the advice of others, while many prefer to schedule as soon as possible after their first visit. In any event, follow-up consultations prior to surgery are encouraged.
Should you decide to have surgery, Dr. Johnson and his staff will assist you in planning your operation. An "informed consent" form must be read and signed prior to surgery. Once a prearranged date of surgery has been confirmed you will receive by mail all the pertinent details of the next step.
On the day of surgery at the Johnson Cosmetic Surgery Center Dr. Johnson will take photographs and offer an opportunity for further questions. Following surgery you will be discharged, accompanied by another person with detailed post-operative instructions and necessary prescriptions. Post-operative pictures for your record are taken at a later date. Cosmetic plastic surgery, as a rule, requires minimal pain medication. A post-operative date for dressing change and suture removal will be scheduled prior to your departure.
Insurance companies generally will not reimburse patients for cosmetic surgery and hence, payment in full is requested two weeks prior to surgery. Credit card financing (Visa, MasterCard) is available. Some costs of cosmetic plastic surgery may qualify for deduction on your income tax return. If your surgical procedure requires hospitalization, the hospital will bill you separately.
