Facelift and Necklift procedures are performed routinely at the Johnson Cosmetic Surgery Center. As we grow older, the skin on the lower two-thirds of the face and neck loses its elasticity. With time and the pull of gravity, the skin and neck muscles begin to sag, causing the appearance of jowls, loose skin and fullness under the chin. As these unsightly changes occur, they often give the appearance of premature aging. Heredity is frequently an accompanying factor.

Incisions are carefully concealed within the hairline and inside the front of the ear. Through these incisions, flaps are created to enable the tightening of the upper neck muscles as well as the removal of loose skin. Through a small incision under the chin, liposuction is performed to remove excess fat and contour the chin line. In skilled hands and with the patient in good health, the risks are minimal. The resulting scars are usually well-concealed and, of course, occur with any cosmetic surgical procedure.

Browlift and eyelid procedures are frequently performed together with face and neck lifts. The 2-1/2 to 3 hour procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. Patients experience no pain and minimal discomfort. Patients are usually home for lunch and return to the office for several visits before the final dressings are removed on the fifth day. All sutures are removed within 5-10 days. Patients usually return to work within 10-14 days and can resume all activities in 4 weeks.

The results are very natural looking and provide the patient with a more youthful and rested appearance. This is, indeed, a dramatic uplift to one's self-esteem.
