Patients experience no pain during this procedure and minimal discomfort during the healing period. They are sent home shortly after surgery where they rest for several days before returning to work. Dressings and sutures are removed in 7-10 days and full activity may be resumed within 3-4 weeks. Some patients may have a partial loss of nipple sensation, but this is usually minimal.
